ASIAN ZING AIR FRYER ROASTED WHOLE CHICKEN

Marinated to absolute perfection.

Crispy exterior, juicy interior.

Salty with hints of sweetness.

Sharing my air fryer Asian Zing Chicken. This chicken is so full of flavor after being marinated for hours in all of those amazing ingredients. You can use wings for making these as well, which makes things a little easier for clean up.

Using a whole chicken, however, can make an amazing side or addition to your dinner table. I love to serve this with my fried rice or lo mien and this beautifully roasted chicken centered as a star of the show.

OVERNIGHT?

We will be marinating this whole chicken in the refrigerator overnight. Leaving it overnight really enhances the flavors in the chicken. There is just a handful of ingredients going into this marinade, so we really want to ensure maximum flavor.

However , if needs be and you don't have the time or rather make this same day it can absolutely be done. It may not have all the flavor that it could potentially have, but it can still be done and be delicious!

Under The Skin

Under the skin? Oh absolutely! When using a whole chicken, we want to make sure that this chicken has got flavor through and through. Carefully pulling back the chicken skin and pouring our marinade inside and under the skin of the chicken. If you are using wings you need to leave the wings as is.

Simple

This recipe is so simple, the basic ingredients, it makes it an amazing recipe to have on hand for any dinner or special occasion. Most of work is done marinating in the refrigerator, and then the air fryer does most of the rest.

Ingredients

1. In a large bowl place whole chicken.

2. Carefully pull back the skin of the chicken and using the hands loosen up the skin.

3. Grate garlic and ginger.

5. In a separate bowl combine all soy sauce, garlic, ginger, five spice, brown sugar, and splash of oil. You can leave the oil out.

6. Mix all ingredients well.

7. Pour marinade over, inside and in under the skin of the chicken.

8. Place chicken into a large gallon freeze bag (such as a gallon Ziploc bag) with all of the marinade.

9. Double bag (place already bagged chicken into another bag to avoid spills) chicken if needed.

10. Place bag of chicken into the fridge to marinade overnight.

11. Remove chicken from refrigerator

1 - 2 hours before cooking, to bring to room temperature.

12. Place chicken in air fryer rack leaving extra marinade behind.

13. Air fry for 30 mins, breast side down, at 350 F.

14. Carefully remove rack from air fryer and flip chicken, breast side up and cook at 375 for another 30-40 minutes until chicken is fully cooked through.

15. Let chicken cool for 15 to 20 minutes before cutting.
