These mini apple pies are simply divine! Each bite is filled with the perfect balance of sweet and tart flavors making them a dreamy dessert that everyone will love.

 

The sweet and tangy apple filling is the star of the show in this dessert. Made with fresh, juicy apples and just the amount of sugar and spice, it's the perfect balance of flavors. Whether you're enjoying it in a pie turnover, or crisp, you'll savor every bite of this delicious filling.

 

We are using gala apples to ensure the perfect balance of sweetness. We use gala apples, known for their crisp texture and taste, but you can use any apples you want or have on hand.

The flaky and delicious pie crust is the perfect foundation for these mini pies. It's the first thing your guests will taste, and it sets the tone for the entire dessert. It's a basic and simple pie crust recipe yet holds great flavor to hold our pie in place.

​To take this dessert to the next level, we will be adding our irresistible crumble topping. With its perfect blend of sweetness and crunch, it is sure to be a hit with everyone who tries it. Be sure to sprinkle it generously over each mini apple pie.

Apple Filling

Pie Crust

1. In a bowl we add in our dry ingredients: flour, sugar and salt and mix well. 

2. Add in shortening and butter cubed into small pieces. 

3. Using a pastry cutter or back of fork cut butter and shortening into dry ingredients. 

4. When all is incorporated, add in your cold water and combine until it forms a ball.

5. Cover dough completely, and set in fridge to chill.

Crumble

1. In a small bowl, add in flour, brown sugar and ground cinnamon.

2. Mix well. I don't add salt to my crumble but if you'd like to you can add a pinch. 

3. Cut your stick of butter into chunks and using fingers or a pastry cutter cut butter into dry ingredients, until you get a moist crumble mixture.

4 Squeeze crumble in your hand and break up to have different sizes of crumble.

5. Cover bowl and place in fridge to chill.

Apple Filling 

1. Peel, slice and cut your apples into chunks of one-to-two-inch pieces.

 

2.  Place apple pieces into a saucepan and add in your sugar, cinnamon, lemon juice, butter and salt.

 

3.  Place on medium heat and stir all ingredients together. 

 

4. Cover and let apples cook for four to five minutes.

 

5. Add in flour, stir and cook for an additional minute.

 

6. Remove from heat.   

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F

 

Assemble:

1. On a lightly floured surface roll out pie crust. Add little flour as necessary. Pinch together with your hands as it cracks if needed.

2.Using a cup, or cutter around 3 inches in diameter around the size of the top of your muffin pan cut circles of your pie crust out.

3. Using one circle piece place at the bottom of each muffin space in pan. Using a spatula can help remove crust from counter.

4.  Gently press pie crust in each muffin spot and around the sides. 

5. Fill each pie crust with your pie filling until it reaches right below the top of your pie crust. Leave enough space for your crumble topping.

6. Remove crumble from fridge and using your hands break it apart it got solidified in the fridge. 

7. Sprinkle a generous amount of crumble on each muffin. Gently press on top so it sticks to the apples. 

8. Bake for 25 minutes until golden brown .
